Community Health Representative

Boozhoo! My name is Marcy Lemieux and I am the new Community Health Representative (CHR). I am a Longlake #58 band member and I am honored to be working as CHR for our community. I have been the new CHR since September 2016. Before becoming CHR, I was previously employed with Migizi Wazisin Elementary School as a Teacher Assistant - Child and Youth Worker.

I would like to honor our past Community Health Representative Friedna Desmoulin who was CHR for 41 years. She dedicated her whole life and career to providing medical knowledge and assistance to the community. I definitely have very big shoes to fill as she operated many different health programs, promoted health and is certainly missed amongst our clinic and community.

Every month there will be a clinic newsletter with our monthly calendar that show the programs, times and where it will be held as well as in the community newsletter. For the month of June we are promoting the Nordic Pole Walk.  It is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm at the Migizi Wazisin Elementary School gym. Just come out and bring your indoor runners and we provide the poles. Elders, adults and youth are more than welcome to attend.  There is also a daily “drop in” that community members can come to at the clinic kitchen. If you are near the clinic or come daily, please feel free to stop in and have a coffee, tea or a glass of water.

Just a reminder to suboxone clients that the designated times are as followed Monday to Friday 9:30am-11:ooam and 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  Please keep these times in mind.

If you have any questions you can call 876-4553 or come in to the clinic. Miigwetch!
